Preparation

Before you actually decide that you want to immigrate to Canada, you should do your homework. Question your motivation - what is it that attracts you to Canada? Search your soul - are you ready for such a huge change? Are you willing to put your life on hold for several years? Are you willing to invest money and time in this huge change? Do you have enough money to go through it?

Research Canada. Ask questions. Ask those who already decided and are in the process. Ask those who are already in Canada. You will get as many opinions as the number of people you will talk to.

Do not expect miracles. Do not believe that you will be able to find a job the first day after your arrival. Do not expect that you will find employment at the same level as you have now. Have your eyes open and make an informed decision - you will have to live with it for years to come.

Immigration, to any country, is a difficult and complex process. The results are not always predictable. You may find out that you simply cannot live in cold weather. You may find out that you miss your friends and family so much that you will want to return and simply forget all about Canada. You may find out that the people are different and not always to your liking.

The better you are prepared, the more information you gather before you make the final decision, the better you will be equipped to deal with the challenges and obstacles that will be put before you on a daily basis. This is where a good representative and a good counsel comes in. It is easy to paint a rosy picture and promise you the world. It is much more difficult to give you a realistic picture of what to expect and how to deal with it.

You may prefer someone who will without hesitation tell you that you will be successful and happy in Canada. You should prefer honesty and objectivity. It is, in the end, your life that is at stake here. It is your money, your dreams and your future.

Once you know for sure that this is what you want to do, decide how you want to do it. Are you comfortable with the amount of paperwork required? Do you understand the implications of Canadian immigration law? Do you know what documents you will need to prepare a good and well-presented application? If yes, go ahead.

If you have doubts, think about getting help. If you are a physician, you will probably not attempt to build your house. If you are a carpenter, you will not try to remove your appendix. We all are knowledgeable and skilled in some areas, and completely ignorant in others. Know your limitations. Do not hesitate to ask for help. It may be the best decision you have ever made - provided that you select your representative wisely and after careful deliberation.

If you wish to be assessed and learn what your chances are, please fill out our assessment form for free-of charge assessment or e-mail us your resume. Please see here what we are looking in a resume for assessment.

Get professional advice. It is important to start the right way from the first moment. It is very difficult to overturn negative decision and it is also more expensive in the long run. Good counsel is the best investment in your future you will ever make.
